History of New Birth ICM
WHERE WE WERE…
In June 2001,
Bishop Frankie Williams, Jr. accepted the calling and appointed to pastor and began making preparations to establish the ministry
God placed in heart. He prayed and obeyed the voice of the Lord, which led him
to Lynchburg, Virginia named the church, “New Birth.” The first service was held at the Ramada Inn on Sunday, August 5, 2001. Two weeks later, God opened another great door and enabled the ministry
to move to the Fort Early building on Fort Avenue for Sunday morning services and Thursday night Bible study.
Though the
church was blessed to be in such a beautiful building for services, we began to decree and declare greater things in behalf
of the ministry. The words of Bishop Olive C. Brown rang in the ears of the pastors;
“When in lack, give; and when in a lull, build.” We were also reminded that God would send an abundance of whatever New Birth needed for ministry. The faith of the new ministry was greatly
strengthened. By faith, we committed to one year at the Fort Early building, and believed God for a new place by
the end of June 2002.
In July of
2002, the New Birth ICM family moved to our current location on Timberlake
Road. Praise
the Lord! For with God all things are possible!
WHERE WE ARE…
Today,
NBICM still occupies a portion of the Timberlake Road building, and we still know God has greater things in store for this ministry. We praise God for the increase in souls and committed workers to God and the ministry. For two years we had services at the Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center on 3rd Saturdays of each month. God has allowed
us sponsor marriage seminars, financial seminars, vacation club and recreational activities for the children. In 2005, we launched the Family, Youth and Community Wholeness Center (non-profit organization). We have assisted students
from Liberty University with community service hours. In 2005, New Birth ICM won first place at
the city’s Day in the Park activities for our unique display and superb cooking!
